Alidya (also marketed as 2nd Chance or Alidya Anti Lipodystrophic Agents) is a CE-marked medical device and mesotherapy product developed in Italy for the prevention and treatment of cellulite (gynoid lipodystrophy) and localized adiposity. The formulation contains a patented blend of amino acids (mainly glycine, L-proline, L-lysine, L-leucine, L-valine, L-alanine), a chelating complex (including disodium EDTA), an osmotic balancing agent, and a bicarbonate buffer system. When injected into the subcutaneous tissue, Alidya works through multiple mechanisms:

• Chelates and removes toxic metals and free radicals that contribute to chronic inflammation and tissue damage
• Neutralizes extracellular acidity and restores physiological pH balance in adipose tissue
• Improves microcirculation and lymphatic drainage
• Stimulates fibroblast activity and neocollagenesis (new collagen formation)
• Reduces adipocyte hypertrophy and improves the extracellular matrix structure

These actions help break down the fibrous septae responsible for the dimpled “orange peel” appearance, decrease water retention, smooth skin texture, and enhance overall skin firmness and elasticity. Alidya is most commonly used on the thighs, buttocks, abdomen, flanks, inner/outer knees, upper arms, and lower back—areas prone to cellulite and localized fat. Treatment protocols typically involve 7–12 sessions spaced 1 week apart, with each session using 1–2 vials (5 mL per vial) injected intradermally or subcutaneously using fine needles or mesotherapy gun techniques, often after topical numbing cream. Visible improvement in cellulite grade (reduced dimpling and smoother contour) usually appears after 4–6 sessions, with optimal results 2–3 months after the full course as collagen remodeling continues. Maintenance sessions are often recommended every 3–6 months. Alidya is generally well-tolerated, with common transient side effects including mild redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, itching, or small papules at injection sites (resolving within 3–10 days). Rare complications can include prolonged swelling, infection, allergic reactions, or uneven results if technique is suboptimal. It is not FDA-approved in the United States as of 2026 (where deoxycholic acid-based products like Kybella are approved only for submental fat), but it carries the CE mark and is legally used in many European, Latin American, Middle Eastern, and Asian countries under medical supervision. Alidya is intended exclusively for use by trained aesthetic physicians, dermatologists, or plastic surgeons experienced in mesotherapy and injection lipolysis. Proper patient selection is essential—ideal candidates have mild to moderate cellulite (Nürnberger-Müller stages 1–3), good skin elasticity, realistic expectations, and no contraindications (active skin infection, uncontrolled diabetes, bleeding disorders, pregnancy/breastfeeding, severe liver/kidney disease, or known hypersensitivity to components). Results are enhanced and prolonged when combined with healthy diet, regular exercise, lymphatic drainage massage, compression garments, and maintenance of stable weight.
